There are several types of abuses. Each type of abuse causes long term and even permanent damage to the psyche whether a child or an adult is the recipient. When reading about each of these abuses, think in terms of your own life if you have been the recipient.
Do you still retain the reactions you had at the original onset? If you were inflicting the abuse for whatever reason, do you have ad adverse effect still lingering because of the incident? Have you addressed the incident or the reaction to the incident?
It is more important than we realize. Ignoring such reactions often instigate additional trauma later on. They might show up in a temper tantrum as a child or as rage in an adult. It is difficult for some to express their feelings and they might feel intimidated when trying to convey their reactions especially to one who has brought out those reactions. But unless they bring out those feelings and work through them at the time they will become more and more difficult to heal as time goes by.
These abuses are not inclusive all the types of variations of abuse but include:
-
- Verbal
- Emotional
- Physical
- Sexual
- Ritualistic
- Religious
- Financial
- Passive Agressive
- Manipulation
